Animalarium brings together a series of animal heads conceived as small sculptures in which pattern, colour, and ornamentation take centre stage. Each piece is individually hand-modelled and hand-painted through a meticulous and repetitive process that transforms the surface into a richly detailed visual field, where decoration becomes a language of expression rather than mere embellishment.
Inspired by the chromatic richness and symbolic traditions of Latin American folk art, particularly the vibrant craftsmanship of Oaxaca, the collection establishes a dialogue between the animal kingdom, cultural imagery, and contemporary sculpture. While each figure possesses its own distinct identity, the series achieves unity through the repetition of patterns, the intensity of colour, and the precision of the handmade gesture, creating a universe that is at once playful, ritualistic, and deeply expressive.
